Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept Caught On The Streets Of London

Diposting oleh Unknown

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept is set to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th, but an English car spotter spied the concept yesterday morning in London near the Tower Bridge.

One thing is certain from these pictures, the topless Rover doesn't look any less strange in the real world than it does in the pictures we've seen ahead of the official unveil.
Commenting on the concept model, Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern said: "The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution - instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque's lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable."

The study is based on the three-door Evoque and can seat four passengers. It features an electrically operated cloth top with the roof mechanism stowed neatly below the belt-line and also comes equipped with a Roll Over Protection System [ROPS].

BMW Group has opened the world’s largest showroom for BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and BMW motorcycles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Motors, the BMW Group’s long-standing importer for the region, has invested around AED 300 million (approx. 62 million euros) in the new 35,000-square-metre showroom over its three-year construction.
The facility features separate showrooms and sales areas for the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce cars, and for BMW motorcycles, with more than 70 automobiles and 10 motorcycles on permanent display. The dealership also has an extensive range of newer pre-owned vehicles as well as a service area that will be able to perform maintenance on up to 120 vehicles simultaneously. More than 450 staff members will work at the facility.

“The Middle East is an important region for the BMW Group. We sold more vehicles here in 2011 than ever before. There is tremendous future growth potential in many countries in this region and in the United Arab Emirates in particular.” said BMW Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, during the opening ceremony.

The BMW Group achieved a new sales record in the Middle East in 2011. A total of 18,657 BMW and MINI brand vehicles were sold last year in the region’s 14 import markets – an increase of more than nine per cent year-on-year. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) accounted for more than 47 per cent of deliveries, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai the largest markets.

Why Buy A Hybrid Car

Diposting oleh Unknown

By

If you are among the many other automobile owners who are coming to the conclusion that automobile exhaust is contributing to the phenomena of global warming, then you might wish to consider purchasing a one of these little powerhouses. But there are many other reasons why people might wish to purchase a hybrid even though they are significantly more expensive than cars with traditional combustion engines.

Hybrids are different from cars with combustion engines because they have two motors. The first is an electric motor, the second is an engine powered solely by gasoline. They also have been equipped with a special system that is able to capture the excess energy which is generated when the car's brakes are applied. They are capable of storing this excess energy in a battery.

Most people are resistant to the idea of purchasing a car that contains two motors because they worry that it will break down twice as many times as a car with just one motor. This is a difficult question for most automobile experts to answer. A car with two motors certainly has its positive and negative features. The biggest positive feature is that hybrids require no energy when they are idling in traffic at a red light or while waiting for a train to pass. They simply shut down. They also require less energy than combustion engine automobiles when running at lower speeds. This means that when you find yourself in stop and go traffic, your automobile will not emit exhaust because it will be running solely on battery power. When travelling at higher speeds, the gas engine will begin to operate. The engine powered by gasoline is the one that charges the battery.

People who drive cars which are powered solely by electricity have found themselves stranded on the side of the road simply because they did not have an extension cord handy. A hybrid will never need an electrical charge. It will always be ready to go whenever you are!

Owning a hybrid car is not an inexpensive proposition. Installing two motors and a storage system for the battery is expensive. Because the operating systems in hybrid cars are fairly complex, hybrids require very sophisticated internal computers. Thus, if you own a hybrid car you can expect higher repair bills when it has to go in for service. This is offset, however, by the lower day-to-day operating cost. Hybrids are the most efficient automobiles available in the mass-market today. They can get as much as 60 mpg which is very good gas mileage.

The only reason that hybrids have not become more popular is because most North American automobile owners are extremely reluctant to relinquish their fast cars. But if you question any owner of a hybrid car, they will most likely tell you that any loss in speed is made up for in efficiency in gas mileage. They know that even the smallest savings in fuel economy will add years to the life of their car's life.

As most people know, the Japanese automobile industry is way ahead of the US industry in manufacturing hybrids. Despite the high cost of gasoline, American drivers are still staunchly committed to their inefficient SUVs. This mentality may be starting to change itself, though. Ford has recently brought out its Escape which is a hybrid SUV. This car is rapidly becoming very popular with automobile buyers across the United States.

Infiniti Emerg-E Concept Leaked

Diposting oleh Unknown on Selasa, 14 Februari 2012

Dubbed Emerg-e, the concept car has so far only been teased with a handful of close-up detail shots tinted such a deep purple we were half expecting them to break out into a rendition of "Smoke on the Water" – which was, come to think of it, set just across the lake from where the concept is set to be unveiled just a few weeks from now. But we digress. The point is that a series of what appear to be patent renderings have leaked their way online to give us a much better idea of what to expect.
Though the car won’t make its public debut until next month at the Geneva Motor Show, leaked renderings have provided us an early look at the Infiniti Emerg-E concept. As seen here, the Infiniti Emerg-E wears a curved, futuristic two-door body that hides its advanced drivetrain.

The car itself is no surprise: we first heard rumors of a two-seat Infiniti electric car in September 2011. Infiniti has previously admitted that the two-seat Emerg-E concept will debut in Geneva next month with an extended-range electric drivetrain. That means that, like the Chevrolet Volt, the Infiniti will be an electric car that can use a small generator to recharge its batteries on the move.

The Emerg-E will drive almost exclusively on electrical power, and is expected to borrow the 80-kW electric motor and lithium-ion battery from the Nissan Leaf. The 1.2-liter range extender will be mid-mounted in the Emerg-E, which helps to improve the car’s balance, in keeping with the concept’s sporting intentions.

If the Infiniti Emerg-E concept evolves into a production car, don’t expect it to launch for another year or so. Parent company Nissan’s next electric offering will be an all-electric small van, which should arrive some time in 2013. A production version of the Infiniti electric car wouldn’t likely emerge before 2013 — or maybe not until 2014.
