2013 Pininfarina Alfa Romeo Sports Car Spider Concept

Diposting oleh Unknown on Kamis, 04 April 2013

Pininfarina, an Italian car design studio, has released to the public the teaser image of their new Alfa Romeo concept. Pininfarina turns 80 years-old this year. As part of celebrating this important milestone the company will unveil this two-seater spider concept pictured here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March. It will be presented as a tribute to its long relationship with Alfa Romeo. The unveiling coincides with Alfa's 100th anniversary so it is doubly fitting. The design has been managed by Lowie Vermeersch, head of Pininfarina’s style centre, and the rear reflects the old Alfa Romeo Duetto model, with its cuttlefish-bone inspiration.

A revival of the Alfa Duetto is an exciting proposition, and the prototype will be the same two-seater Spider vehicle. It will have a longitudinal engine placed in the front and rear-wheel drive. No production plan has been established as yet, so we can’t say if this could be an eventual replacement to the current Alfa Spider.

Apart from the obvious not much else is said or revealed about the car. But from this solitary sketch it can be noted that the current 8C Spider has some serious styling competition. The long sloping bonnet, two-door configuration and short rear overhangs are the main signs of a classic roadster. Whether this traditionalist approach will be kept intact with a soft folding roof remains to be seen.

Perhaps the Pininfarina/Alfa Romeo relationship is about to receive a new life. Hopefully the concept is as good, or even better than this sketch suggests.

"The Zagato Stradale TZ3 is a gorgeous car and one we feel honored to have debut at the Amelia," stated Bill Warner, Chairman and Co-Founder of the Amelia Island Concours. "The car's American underpinnings and Italian design make it a perfect fit for our field."

Designer Dreams of Alfa Romeo 6C Sports Coupe Concept to Rival Mustangs and Stingrays

Diposting oleh Unknown on Selasa, 26 Februari 2013

Alfa Romeo's comeback with the 4C coupe at the Geneva Motor Show next month is a welcome move from the Fiat-Chrysler alliance, but it's only a single model and a limited production one at that.

If the Milanese firm is serious about catching up with the rest of the world, and by that, we mean German, Japanese and even American carmakers; its needs to follow up with more proposals, and especially ones that capture the hearts and souls of car enthusiasts.

Fiat-Chrysler CEO Marchionne Uses Racial Slur for New Alfa Romeo Engine

Alfa Romeo’s return to the U.S. market, which is supposed to revive the historic Italian brand that’s currently on life support, has been announced more times than we can recall, only to be postponed time and time again.

In our 2013 NAIAS review we wrote that, compared to GM and Ford, not to mention foreign carmakers, the Fiat-Chrysler Group presence was underwhelming and we were wondering where Alfa Romeo was.

New Alfa Romeo 6C Cuore Sportivo Design Concept

Diposting oleh Unknown on Selasa, 08 Januari 2013

The last great sports car to be produced by Alfa Romeo was the 8C Competizione offered in limited numbers between 2007 and 2010, which shared its platform and V8 engine with the Maserati GranTurismo.

For the near future, the Italians have promised us at least two new sports models, the 4C mid-engine coupe and the next Mazda MX-5-based Spider, both of which are expected to be less spectacular than the 8C, but also much more affordable.
