It may not have the firepower to worry the latest crop of German über-sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG or the BMW M5 but, nevertheless, the
2014 Chevrolet SS that was unveiled today at the Daytona International Speedway, where its racing version also debuted at the Daytona 500 NASCAR event, is a welcome addition to the
Bow Tie’s range.
That’s because the new SS, which is the American version of the new Holden SS V and is built around GM’s global platform that also underpins the Camaro and Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle, marks
Chevrolet’s return to rear-wheel drive performance sedans after a long absence.

Rising gasoline prices along with the vast improvements made in diesel engine technology in the past few years mean that car manufacturers are much less reluctant to introduce oil-burning models in the U.S. market that, unlike Europe, clearly isn't too fond of them.
Chevrolet chose the
Chicago Auto Show to unveil the Clean Turbo Diesel variant of its best-selling
Cruze small sedan. The 2014 model that will be sold in the U.S. and Canada is powered by a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that puts out 148HP and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The flow of information regarding the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray continues with a trio of videos that show some new aspects of the car itself as well as General Motors' promotional efforts targeting the press.
We'll begin our sightseeing with a clip that comes to us courtesy of the crew over at
GMAuthority who placed a microphone up, close and personal to the display model's
buttocks at the
Detroit motor show as GM fired up the 450-horsepower V8 engine.

2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, so given your interest in the seventh incarnation of GM's flagship sports car, we prepared an extensive photo gallery along with videos from Chevrolet's booth.
In the first clip, Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter walks us around the new 'Vette and briefs us on the key highlights of the car, while we also have footage from the presentation and a short interview with GM North America president Mark Reuss, the latter courtesy of the

Even if you’re not a
Corvette fan, we bet that by now, you’ll be pretty frustrated from all the teasers
GM is fanning out on the C7 while managing to keep the seventh-generation ‘Vette under wraps.
The fourth, and probably final, video released by the General about its upcoming sports car that will debut at the
Detroit Motor Show next week shows parts of the car’s manufacturing process.

It seems that pickup truck owners throughout the country have a
thing for competing in amateur pulling contests.
Only a couple of weeks ago, we witnessed the finesse, skill, and let's not forget, the…ahem…sportsmanship between two drivers in a
Chevrolet Silverado and a diesel-powered Dodge Ram Cummins battling it out on a parking lot before they moved on to challenge each other in a traditional fist fight.

We've heard of cars that can put some hair on your chest (figuratively speaking) but vehicles that can literally wax off your body curls is something new to us…
Welcome to the world of French-
Canadian artist Philippe Bond and his waxy and supposedly humorous stunt with Chevrolet Quebec to promote the new
Sonic sub-compact.
See the painful hair removal process in the video that follows after the break.

We know the seventh generation of GM's
flagship sports car, the Corvette, is just around the corner and that it will arrive sometime in the first half of 2013, but one YouTube user had the unique opportunity to see the car up close and on the road.
The good news is that he was able to film a short clip, the bad news being that he did it with a mobile phone without turning it sideways… Nonetheless, the video is worth 30 seconds of your time.
The prototype was under heavy camouflage but we are still able to see some details such as the four tailpipes, which unlike the current model, are bundled very closely together. The video also proves that the C7 will remain a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car
GM is keeping a tight lid on most things concerning the next Corvette, but we expect to see a new generation of V8 engines in both naturally aspirated and force-fed forms.

It’s going to be a while before the 2014
Chevrolet Impala sedan hits showrooms in North America, close to a year to be exact, so
General Motors will no doubt try to find various ways to keep consumer interest high in the coming months.
For now, the Detroit automaker has prepared a short video with Jon Hahn, Impala Marketing Manager, and Russ Clark, Marketing Director for Chevrolet Performance and Mid-Size Vehicles, highlighting certain aspects of the exterior design and the interior technology found on the 10th generation Impala, as well as a second clip with the Impala's exterior and interior designers.
Jump past the break to watch the two videos.

One of the many perks of working for a large magazine like Motor Trend is that you have the opportunity to perform trips and projects that most people can only dream of – like travelling from Munich, Germany to Maranello, Italy, in a Corvette ZR1, and while in the land of supercars, hop in a brand-new Ferrari 458 Italia for quick ride.
If you follow the break, you can watch MT's Editor at Large Angus MacKenzie and British racecar driver Justin Bell, take the ZR1 up to 200mph (321km/h) on the Autobahn before hitting the Stelvio Pass and driving the
458 Italia in its homeland.

What Nissan has managed to do with the
R35 GT-R is nothing short of amazing, as the Japanese carmaker's flagship model has become the de facto standard in the sports car world upon which all other vehicles are judged.
Of course, we should never forget that another important factor that weighs in at any type of race is the driver and how capable he or she is behind the wheel.
The video that follows, isn't a race per se, as the drivers of the
Corvette Z06 and Nissan GT-R running at the MotorSport Ranch Performance Car Country Club in Texas were probably there to do some hot laps around the track, but still, the chase that ensued makes for a pretty interesting watch.

Everyone and their mothers know everything is bigger in Texas, but some things were faster too at this weekend's edition of The Texas Mile.
A heavily modified fourth-gen
Chevrolet Camaro owned by Kelly Bise and built by Late Model Racecraft with driver Josh Ledford behind the wheel, set a new world record for the fastest standing mile Camaro at the Texas event.
Ledford managed to take the Camaro up to a top speed of 253.1 mph or 407.2 km/h. You can watch his amazing run in the video that follows after the jump.
