2013 Renault Wind Sport coupe-roadster

Diposting oleh Unknown on Selasa, 09 April 2013

2013 Renault Wind Sport coupe-roadster

Renault announced its plans to unveil the brand-new Wind coupe-roadster at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2013 on 2 March. The 2013 Renault Wind is designed for two persons. Despite the fact that Renault pitches the car as a coupe-roadster, unlike other CC models with retractable hardtops, the Wind uses an exclusively innovative electric roof that rotates 180 degrees into the trunk, which is capable to open in just 12 seconds.

Renault Wind brings a completely different take on a car for drivers who enjoy wind-in-the-hair motoring. Renault Wind is aimed at motorists who lust after a car that is not only distinctive and compact, but also convertible yet practical enough for everyday use.

Advantages of this car is the only car of its class to provide just as much luggage space (270dm3 VDA) whatever the position of the roof.  The Renault Wind has a 3.83 metres in length which features a highly innovative way of opening up. The strictly two-seater model shares its platform and mechanical hardware with the Twingo, though at 3.830mm long, it's 230mm longer than the hatchback.

The French automaker is keeping a tight lid on other details for now, but it is expected that the Wind will be offered with two of the Twingo's petrol engines, a 1.2-liter turbo with 100HP and a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter unit with 133HP.

Although Renault Wind’s compact dimensions make it a nimble machine in and about town, it is the only car of its class to provide just as much luggage space (270dm3 VDA) whatever the position of the roof. True to Renault's brand signature "Drive the Change", Wind makes passion affordable for everyone.

Peugeot Workers Protest Layoffs, Company Says Strikes Happen Every Month

Diposting oleh Unknown on Rabu, 16 Januari 2013

Last summer, PSA Peugeot Citroen announced that it would close its Aulnay plant near Paris and slash 8,000 jobs in a cost-cutting effort to minimize its losses, which were €819 million (US$990 million) in the first month of 2012 alone.

Today, 300 of its workers belonging to the CGT, one of France’s more radical unions, went on strike at said plant. They may account for just 10 percent of the factory's 3,000-strong workforce, but they were able to “paralyze” the facility as most of them worked on production.

Cam Shaft Turns the Renault Clio 200 RS Cup into a Track Racer

Diposting oleh Unknown on Senin, 16 April 2012

German car wrapping specialist Cam Shaft has made its own Clio RS R3 track racer (of sorts) out of the sportiest version of the French hatch.

The company started out by stripping the Clio RS' interior down to bare studs and then adding an assortment of race-specification goods ranging from a full roll-cage and a pair of Sparco bucket seats to the LCD instrument panel and removable Sparco steering wheel.

The mechanical improvements are far more restrained and include a lowered KW suspension, Brembo brake kit, K&N sports air filter and an Akrapovic Evolution exhaust system, while the car now rides on new lightweight OZ rims.

The final touch comes from Cam Shaft's own wrapping service for both the exterior and interior panels along with a new rear wing.

Renault Megane 2.0T Renaultsport 265 Cup Review

Diposting oleh Unknown on Minggu, 25 Maret 2012

Renaultsport Megane 265 Cup

What is it?
Renault has savagely pruned its UK range, but it knows what it is good at and the Renaultsport cars are safe. The whole Renault Megane range has had a refresh with extra splashes of chrome or gloss black inside, and further mutants of the already mutant-looking nose now with strips of daytime LEDs. These form part of the 'F1 blade' on the Renaultsport models, which can also have a Red Design pack with red accents on the blade, the side strakes, the rear diffuser and the wheel rims.

That's how you might spot the latest Renaultsport Megane, but more important is that the 261bhp previously restricted to the limited-run Trophy version is now on tap in the regular cars, now (metrically) known as Renaultsport Megane 265. As usual there are Cup and normal versions, the latter costing an extra £1200 (making £26,025) and featuring squashier seats, various superfluous gadgets and softer suspension.

Also as usual you can have the Cup chassis on your non-Cup, the £1350 it costs bringing you a GKN torque-biasing differential (maximum torque-difference ratio 2.3 to one) as well as the firmer suspension with 35 per cent stiffer front springs, 38 per cent stiffer rear ones and an overall 15 per cent rise in roll stiffness. Red calipers for the Brembo brakes, too.

What’s it like?
But the key thing is the enhanced engine. You have to press the ESP button to switch it from the former 247bhp default position to the new 261bhp, simultaneously loosening the ESP strictures. Keep it pressed and all traction and stability aids are extinguished and the Megane 265's true character can show through.

Some cars get a bit unruly when the electronics are off, suggesting the systems have a bit of a sticking-plaster role. Not so the 265. On the fast-but-technical Monte Blanco circuit the Cup proved as friendly as a 2.0-litre hatchback able to hit just shy of 160mph can be, tucking in beautifully as you come off the brakes and turn, drifting all-of-a-piece if the entry speed was too ambitious, nailing the torque to the road as you spear towards the exit and the diff does its stuff.

It's the sort of car that helps you out, waits for you to act, works with you without imposing an agenda. And it's mighty rapid: the 250 could feel curiously flat and undramatic, especially after the old-generation R26, but the bite and the brilliant torque spread are right back in the 265 along with the deep, granular exhaust note overlaid with the whoosh of expelled air plus some upshift pops and bangs for good measure. The almost-racing Recaros and the optional telemetry system add to the drama, too.

We didn't get to drive the Cup on the road, but we did try the regular 265 which still has the same non-steering front struts with separate hub carriers steering on an outboard axis. It's meant to reduce torque steer, but such are the forces involved that there's still some gentle tugging.

Should I buy one?
It's all part of the 265's talkative nature, which goes well with the explosive overtaking ability and the way this car rewards gentle, delicate, measured inputs. I reckon the non-Cup chassis is just fine for road use, firm but never harsh, ultra-responsive, always rewarding, and on dry roads you don't really miss the clever differential. Either way, the Renaultsport 265 is one of the truly great hot hatches. Even if Renault does call it a coupe.
